Bridge bearing are a commonly used modern bridge bearing. There are several different similar types of bridge bearings that include neoprene bearing pads, neoprene bridge bearings, laminated elastomeric bearings and seismic isolators which are all generally referred to as bridge bearing pads in the construction industry.

They are designed and manufactured based on standards and specifications of such organizations as British Standard, AASHTO, and European Norms En 1337.[1] Internal structure consists of a sandwich of mild steel shims and rubber moulded as one unit.

Elastomeric bearing pads compress on vertical load and accommodate horizontal rotation and provide lateral shear movement. Elastomeric bearing pads are the most economical solution used in construction of large span bridges and building

Bridge Bearing Pads consist of one or more internal layers of Elastomer bonded to internal steel laminates shall be cast as single unit in a mould and vulcanised under heat & pressure to cater for translation or rotation of the super structure by elastic deformation. The raw elastomer used in Bearings are poly-Chloroprene, either of Brands : Neoprene WRT, Bayprene 110, Skyprene B 5, & Denka S-40V in order to have low crystallization rate and adequate shelf life. The content of the Poly Chloreprene in the Bearing is not less than 60% and the ash content shall be less than 5%.

Elastomeric Bearings are designed and manufactured as per IRC : 83 (Part II) - 1987 with its latest amendments, to meet the requirements of specification for road & bridge works to section no : 2000 too clause no : 2005 (elastomeric bearing) : and to international union of railways code no UIC-772-R (use of rubber bearings for railways bridges). The Steel laminates used in the Bearings shall meet the specification of IS : 2062.

Technical Specifications:
  • 10 KN is equivalent to 1MT.
  • Design load of the bearing is equivalent to 10 M Pa.
  • Shear modulus of the bearing shall be between 0.8 & 1.2 M Pa.
  • Ultimate compressive strength of the bearing shall be more than 60 M Pa.
  • Dimension can also be designed as per requirements.

Neoprene is popularity is due to its unique combination of properties and has led to its use in thousands of applications in diverse environments. Neoprene is a polymer that provides moderate oil gasoline resistance, very good resistance to ozone sunlight, excellent adhesion to fabric metals, good resistance to abrasion flex cracking and very good resistance to alkalis acids.

Rubber Bearing consists of alternating laminations of thin rubber layers and steel plates , bonded together to provide vertical rigidity and horizontal flexibility. Vertical rigidity assures the isolator will support the weight of the structure, while horizontal flexibility converts destructive horizontal shaking into gentle movement.
Rubber Bearings are used not only for propeller shaft but for cutter shaft head of dredging vessels. Besides the above ,Rubber Bearings are applied for vertical pump shafts.

Our bearings are used on various vessels such as cargo boats, ferry boat, tug boats, pusher boats, navy ships, fishing boats with approvals from LR,ABs, BV,NV, CR, NK respectively.

Recently the demands for Rubber Bearings are increasing in place of Lignum Vitae on account of a sharp rise in price and abnormal abrasion of Lignum Vitae. Our bearings with quality rubber do not damage the shaft sleeve and offer smooth rotation of the shaft over a long period of time.
